There are a lot of little things I really like about this; it's hard to list them all. I like that the picture has a sense of depth and perspective, and the quality of both soft and hard-edged lighting is wonderful to look at, especially on the dog. The dog really stands out in the foreground; the creepy shift of its features from skeletal to normal really makes one take a second look, and I love that. The use of contrasting color on the dog is great to see as well.
The texturing work on the building is lovely. The lighting dappling the second story is unusual (well, for me-- it's not an effect I've seen around much) but it works really well. In general, it's the lightning of the picture that gives it such a great atmosphere; it's practically luminous where there is light, only making the shadowed areas recede even further.
I love the lighting. It's glowy and dark in all the right places, so the effect is just wonderful. The dog is just great, too--I keep staring right back at him.
