Oh, beautiful. The artwork matched the story wonderfully, and to me it merges so well it feels like a graphic novel, rather than art + text. Loved the last line of the story, and loved the entire premise and the way the character develops so much within this story. Artwork-wise, I loved the contrast between Kai as we first see her, and Kai as she decides to become. Once again, beautiful story, and beautiful art, that when put together become more than the sum of their parts. My apologies for my inelegant expression, but this truly is beautiful work.

What gorgeous artwork! And this is a really interesting world you've set up here; I'm curious to know what becomes of Kai.

Oh, excellent! The story is a really neat idea, and I love the way it's implied this world must work. It's so short, but you really got a lot in here. Great job.

The art is absolutely gorgeous! I particularly like the second picture; all the golden tones seem to glow against the background, and I like the way the light seems to glare and shimmer. Excellent, really.

Great job, both of you!

Really beautiful--the art works with the story really well, too.

The artwork is utterly gorgeous and the story ever so slightly chilling.

The way the girls are raised to be sacrifices is utterly chilling the writing really does justice to the concept and I'm so glad Kai was able to get out.

This was so so pretty. My favorite line was definitely
They belong to a girl named Kai. Her name means fire, from a language long forgotten but that still thrums in the halls and air; from an ancestor she cannot recall that has given her flame-eyes and hair, skin the color of burnt cinnamon, and the gift of ember-dance.
But I also loved the last paragraph. The artwork is gorgeous too, and everything just flows so well!
