I adore the last line-- And if they are not dead, then they are living happily together still.-- because it reminds me very much of a book I loved when I was a kid.

This story has the same narrative rhythm and cadence of a 'traditional' fairy tale, but also, not quite-- sort of like a fairytale with more details filled in. I suppose my hyperactive imagination is to blame for me seeing slash-that-wasn't in the scene with the dragon and the cat, but there you go. *laughs* It was a very cute story, though, even if I predicted that ending coming.
